A serious accident occurred in Dornbirn (Vorarlberg) on Wednesday: a 71-year-old ignored a stop sign and drove into the street: an approaching driver was unable to brake his car in time, resulting in a head-on collision.
On Wednesday around 1:40 p.m., a 53-year-old man was driving his car from the L 190 in Dornbirn towards the Rheintalautobahn when a farmer (71) approached on his tractor from a nearby road. Although the farmer should have stopped for a stop sign, he simply drove onto the street.
The 53-year-old was unable to brake his car in time and was unable to avoid it, causing a collision. The force of the impact threw the farmer from the driver’s cab onto the road. The emergency doctor had to provide first aid, after which the seriously injured man was taken to the Hohenems Hospital and then to the Feldkirch Hospital. The driver survived the crash unharmed.
In order to determine the exact course of the accident (the direction of travel of the tractor is still unclear), the Feldkirch Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered the involvement of an expert and the seizure of the accident vehicles.
