Kiev Passes on Information – After Clinic Attack: Pilot Betrays Commander

Date:

The Russian airstrike on a children’s hospital apparently also shocked a pilot involved in the attack. According to the Ukrainian newspaper ‘The Kyiv Post’, the Russian has passed on data about the responsible commanders – including private photos.

The pilot, who was said to be a member of the 22nd Bomber Division, was said to be troubled by a guilty conscience after the much-criticized attack on the children’s hospital in Okhmatdyt. The attack killed two adults, including a doctor. More than 30 people, including at least eight children, were injured.

Therefore, he passed on personal information to the Ukrainian Military Intelligence Service (HUR), which helped identify thirty responsible commanders. This included private photographs and other confidential documents from his division’s command staff, such as extracts from the personnel files of high-ranking officers, personnel records of Russian military personnel and their family members.

Russian soldiers were forced to carry out attacks against their will
The Russian pilot used the Ukrainian state chatbot Diia on Telegram to pass on the information on July 8. He stressed that some of his comrades also disagreed with attacks on civilian targets, but were forced to do so. “He was shocked by the attack on the children’s hospital and decided to hand over documents on the activities of his military unit to the Ukrainian side, as well as private photos of the command staff,” a confidential intelligence source told the Kiev Independent.

The 22nd Bomber Division, where the whistleblower comes from, is said to be constantly attacking Ukrainian cities, as reported by “Ukrainskaya Pravda”. The leaked information is of great value to Ukraine, according to the Kyiv Post.

UN confirms Russia as perpetrator of attack
Russia denies the attack; the Kremlin claims it was a mistake by Ukrainian air defenses. After an investigation, the UN Human Rights Office is convinced that the clinic was directly hit by a Russian Kh-101 missile. The Ukrainian prosecutor general wants to refer the shelling of the children’s hospital to the International Criminal Court (ICC). The attack has even been criticized by China.
