The Russian aggressors are currently trying to push into Ukraine with as much pressure as possible – and are apparently accepting huge human losses. According to British estimates, Russia has lost 70,000 soldiers in the past two months alone.
Military experts warned months ago about the enormous pressure on the Russian front, and this is exactly what is likely to happen. In May, the daily number of soldiers killed and wounded was 1,262, and in June it was an average of 1,163, the British Ministry of Defence said, citing intelligence information.
It is likely that Russia will continue to lose more than a thousand soldiers per day for the next two months as it attempts to overwhelm Ukrainian positions with massive attacks.
Ukraine can contain the expansion of the front
“The increase in casualties reflects Russia opening a new front in the Kharkiv region and maintaining the pace of attacks on other fronts,” the London statement said. Russia has increased pressure on the front.
“But effective Ukrainian defenses and a lack of Russian training limit Russia’s ability to achieve tactical successes despite efforts to further extend the front line.”
Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian attack since February 2022. Since then, the British Ministry of Defence has regularly published information about the progress of the war. Moscow accuses London of disinformation.
