The air conditioning in the Audi of Florian Wöll from Buch in Tyrol was destroyed by a stone, but the comprehensive insurance initially refused to pay out. For a reason that may surprise the average motorist at first.
That was bad luck: the 20-year-old from Buch in Tyrol bought a used Audi A3 with partial insurance from Porsche Inter Auto, and shortly afterwards the air conditioning failed. “A stone chip was discovered on the condenser at Porsche Wörgl,” says Wöll. After a quick look at the comprehensive insurance conditions, the service advisor discovered that ‘stone falls’ were included. The repair, which cost around 1,200 euros, was carried out without waiting long for written approval; a deductible of 350 euros had to be paid.
The terms and conditions do not provide for this type of damage
When picking up the Audi, the driver got a nasty surprise: during correspondence between Porsche Wörgl and colleagues from the Porsche Bank in Salzburg, it became clear that the damage was not covered after all. The insurance company refused. Wöll was told in writing: “There is no damage within the meaning of the insurance conditions.”
