A blowout on the motorway is always a critical situation, but with a truck other road users can quickly be in danger. “The accident happened today at around 11:28 directly at the entrance to the Griffen motorway. The tyre of a truck suddenly burst for unknown reasons,” explains chief inspector Mario Nemetz in response to a question from “Krone”. “As a result, the car ended up in the other lane.”

At that exact moment, a car began to overtake. “The truck hit the vehicle and got stuck between itself and the concrete barrier. “The car immediately caught fire,” Nemetz describes the tragic situation. “The truck driver was able to pull the driver and passenger out of the car. A woman in the back seat could not be saved.”
It is currently unclear what the nationality of the car and its occupants is as it burned down completely. The motorway is currently closed and there are traffic jams in both directions.
