Dramatic scenes caused a major police operation in Baden near Vienna: a young person (17) held a gun to a peer on a parking deck. He was arrested as part of an alarm manhunt.
Two teenagers, a wallet full of counterfeit money and a gun: what sounded like the ‘ingredients’ for the next crime script led to a major police manhunt in Baden. Because a meeting between two 17-year-olds at the spa’s train station ended in a real showdown on Tuesday evening.
The boy from Traiskirchen and a Perchtoldsdorfer of the same age had arranged to meet via an internet platform. Counterfeit money would then be sold at the train station. The two of them quickly moved the transfer to the old parking deck in Dammgasse. Once there, one of the 17-year-olds pulled out a pistol and demanded at gunpoint that the boy of the same age hand over his wallet. The Traiskirchner then fled with his loot towards Josefsplatz.
Young offender confesses
The victim alerted the police. Eight patrols immediately followed the young robber and were able to arrest the fugitive on Josefsplatz within a short time as part of the large-scale manhunt.
The teenager confessed to the crime, but vehemently denied using a firearm. The police have not yet been able to get their hands on a gun. The wallet has since been found; the 17-year-old had thrown it into the Mühlbach during his escape. An arrest warrant was issued for the previously convicted Traiskirchner and he was taken to Wiener Neustadt prison.
The victim should also expect to be reported because of the counterfeit money deal.
