After the assassination of Donald Trump, there is now a new ‘craze’ among Republicans. Many party friends have bandaged their ears – to express their solidarity with the 78-year-old.
Joe Neglia, a representative from the US state of Arizona, said on the sidelines of the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, that he wanted to honor Trump and was thinking about how best to do so. He asked himself: “What can I do to show my support, solidarity, sympathy and gratitude to the man who almost gave his life for our country?”
It was “the least I can do for President Trump!” said Rep. Stacey Goodman, also wearing a paper band-aid on her right ear.
Trump wants to strike a milder tone in his speech
Trump will formally accept his presidential nomination on Thursday and deliver a long-awaited speech. He originally planned to deliver “a very tough speech” about President Biden’s “terrible administration.” But he scrapped that text and now wanted to deliver a speech “that would unite our country,” the 78-year-old said after the assassination attempt on him.
