Fire alarm in the Katschbergtunnel! A truck caught fire. The driver fought the fire.
In the Katschbergtunnel towards Villach, nerve-racking scenes played out on Friday evening. The tractor of a Turkish truck driver suddenly started burning. The man immediately stopped the truck in the tunnel and tried to get the fire under control. Which he managed to achieve together with the employees of the motorway authority.
The truck was towed out of the tunnel by the local fire brigades of St. Michael (Lungau) and Rennweg. The police believe that a clogged particulate filter may have caused the fire. The Katschbergtunnel had to be closed in both directions due to the incident. Fortunately, no one was injured. There was hardly any damage to the truck.
