New statement – Biden: “Back on the campaign trail next week”

Date:

Despite all the rumors, Joe Biden is combative about his candidacy for the American elections in the fall. Because although his closest circle is already discussing his withdrawal, he has now published a new statement – and it does not sound like he is quitting at all…

“I look forward to campaigning again next week,” said a written statement from the US president, who is seeking a second term in the November elections. Biden announced further campaign dates in the letter.

“Together we will win,” Biden declared. At the same time, he criticized his rival Donald Trump’s “dark” speech at the Republican convention. Biden is currently in isolation due to a corona infection, but continues to perform his official duties as president of the US.

“He fights to win”
Biden’s campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon had previously vehemently denied any withdrawal. Biden “absolutely” remains in the race and is “more determined than ever to beat Trump.” Biden is “clearly the best person to run against Donald Trump,” she insisted on MSNBC.

“You’ve heard it time and time again from the president himself: He wants to win, he’s our candidate and he will be our president for a second term,” the campaign manager said.

At the same time, O’Malley Dillon acknowledged that the past few weeks have been “difficult” for the campaign. “We’ve seen some declines in support,” but the magnitude is small, she continued.

Is Biden’s departure already being planned?
US media had previously reported that Biden, who had been in poor health, was now planning to withdraw from the race for the White House. The New York Times on Thursday quoted several voices close to Biden as saying that the 81-year-old was beginning to accept that he would not be able to win against his rival Trump in the November election.

The news portal ‘Axios’ reported, citing party officials, that Biden could drop out of the race for the White House as early as this weekend. The NBC network quoted a person close to Biden: “We are close to the end.”
