The second competition could face another reform. But first you have to wait for the ÖFB and the state authorities. Bundesliga CEO Christian Ebenbauer spoke to the “Krone” about problems, possibilities and the timetable.
“Kron”: Mr. Ebenbauer, in October there was a meeting of second division clubs where it was said a new reform was hotly discussed. Is that correct?
Christian Ebenbauer: Yes, there was a meeting. But that is not new. We already said in the summer of 2023 that we want to evaluate not only the first competition, but also the second competition. Already in the spring of 2023, we proposed to the ÖFB and the regional associations to also include the third and fourth performance levels due to the issue of “financing the clubs”. That was rejected at the time. We presented the evaluation results in December 2023.
