Friday morning, the alarm went off at the fire department in Annaberg-Lungötz. One person was trapped in the car after a head-on collision in the Bründlschneider area. The Florianis were on duty with more than thirty men, including fellow firefighters and mayor Martin Promok.
The driver (57) of a VW bus collided with the Mercedes of an 18-year-old driver on the Pass-G Schütt federal road in Annaberg-Lungötz early on Friday. The impact caused the bus to tip over on its side.
Emergency services from the local fire department, including mayor Martin Promok, came to the aid of the trapped 57-year-old. The injured man was flown to hospital after receiving first aid. The 18-year-old Mercedes driver escaped the shock. Alcohol played no role in the accident.
The fire department had to use a cable winch to put the bus upright again and tie down any spilled equipment. The B166 was completely closed for about an hour.
