Instead of being interviewed, a 41-year-old Slovenian tried to leave for Slovenia, after police had been investigating him following a manhunt for parcel theft.
The theft of a package left outside an apartment in St. Paul set the ball rolling. “The investigation into this case has revealed that the perpetrator may be a parcel deliverer from a major delivery service,” police said. “Through investigations conducted by this delivery service, a subcontractor, a 41-year-old Slovenian, was identified.”
He had an appointment for an interview on Friday, but was arrested by the police at the Lavamünd border crossing. “Through extensive investigation, a total of fifteen parcel thefts have been linked to the suspect so far,” the police report.
But that’s not all: the Slovenian may have faked a break-in to his van in Slovenia. 18 packages were stolen. “During his interrogation, the 41-year-old did not admit to any crime and stated that he always returned the packages to the delivery warehouse,” the police explained. He was released and the investigation is ongoing.
