An 82-year-old drove six kilometers the wrong way on the A8 on Friday and also drove through two tunnels. According to witnesses, ‘extremely dangerous situations’ occurred several times. Eventually, a driver was able to stop the senior.
The 82-year-old from Ohlsdorf drove onto the A8 in the Wels-Wirtschaftspark area shortly after 11:00 on Friday, but in the opposite direction. The driver drove undeterred as a ghost driver for another six kilometers towards the Voralpenkreuz.
The 82-year-old also drove as a ghost driver through the Noitzmühle and Steinhaus tunnels. Only after the second tunnel could he be stopped by another motorist who was the first in front of the closed tunnel.
Drivers were lucky
Witnesses reported to the police that ‘extremely dangerous situations’ occurred several times. It can therefore be said that we were lucky that no accident occurred and that all road users survived the six-kilometre long ghost ride unscathed.
The 82-year-old’s driver’s license has been provisionally confiscated and a report will be filed against him.
