Disgusting criticism of the McDonald’s branch in Waidhofen an der Thaya (Lower Austria): For the second time, a Waldviertler claims to have served a moldy burger here. “That can also have consequences for health,” says the 25-year-old angrily in an interview with “Krone”. The fast food chain wants to investigate the incidents – and apologize to those affected.
“That’s not possible anymore! This is the second time I’ve had a moldy burger in my hands,” says Andre M. from the Waldviertel, who is more than angry. And he is not shy in his criticism of the quality of the establishment in Waidhofen an der Thaya. Unfortunately, he also joins a series of harsh reviews about the fast food restaurant, which repeatedly appeared on social media channels and sometimes disappeared again.
Eaten pieces of burger later fined
On Thursday around 8:15 p.m., the Waldviertler was given a Big Mac. “I had already eaten a little bit of it when we suddenly noticed the mold spot,” says the Lower Austrian, who is angry with himself for even visiting the restaurant again. This was the second time he had a moldy burger in his hands: “The first time it was a spicy chicken,” he recalls with disgust.
Red Bull as an apology
After his stomach had calmed down, he took the burger this time and drove back to Waidhofen an der Thaya, a good ten kilometres away, to complain about his order this time. “The only thing they told me there was that they couldn’t do anything anymore. “They’re sorry,” said Andre M., who gave him a can of Red Bull as compensation.
No quick answer
After being dissatisfied with the response from local employees, Andre M. also wrote an email to the head office to complain. But for the time being there was no answer – until the “Krone” presented itself to McDonald’s Austria. The chain was “in principle” not aware of any complaints about the Waldviertler branch, it now says in a statement.
The management has not heard of any such cases, emphasizes spokeswoman Jessica Schockerfuchs-Vallant. “But something like that should not happen, that is very clear,” she says clearly and promises: “Our quality department will investigate the matter immediately.” She also wants to contact Andre M. and apologize to the customer. The Waldviertler is ready for a discussion. However, the question remains whether he will buy a burger at the branch in Waidhofen an der Thaya again.
