Shots fired in Brussels – police arrest man after attempted murder in Vienna

Austrian police arrested a 45-year-old on Monday who allegedly shot multiple times in Brussels on Saturday. They received a tip that the suspect might be in Vienna.

According to the initial information, the native Albanian is said to have shown astonishment and offered no resistance. The detectives picked him up Monday morning in front of an apartment building in the Donaustadt district of Vienna. They are said to have thwarted his planned flight to Albania.

Attempted murder on the street
The 45-year-old was wanted for attempted murder on the street in Brussels. According to the Belgian authorities, he would have shot a man several times last Saturday. The police then applied for a European arrest warrant. The Vienna State Police was investigating after a tip that the wanted person was in the Austrian capital. Before his arrest, the alleged perpetrator had been observed.

In Belgium, three bodies were found a few days ago in an apartment in a suburb of Leuven. They died of stab wounds.
