The police took strict action: countless reports poured in on the rural grid square in Burgenland. Almost 1,000 drivers were checked, 17 of whom were under the influence of alcohol or addictive substances.
During the main operation, the police once again focused on alcohol and drug drivers, speeding and calling without a hands-free device. Approximately 950 drivers were checked. In total, officers arrested 17 drivers who were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The sad peak value was recorded by a 54-year-old driver from the Jennersdorf district with 2.16 per mille.

During the main campaign, 420 other reports were filed and 176 criminal orders were issued. In 174 cases there were reports of speeding, 91 times of insufficient safety distance. Particularly striking were two speeding offenders aged 18 and 21 with British license plates in the Eisenstadt-Raum district, who had been flashed several times at high speed in the past few days.
Driving license lost
Both were arrested in the context of the grid square: the 18-year-old’s driver’s license was taken away and his car was confiscated. In addition, as with the 21-year-old notorious speedster from England, a high deposit was requested.
In Forchtenstein, a 17-year-old driver was stopped while driving his father’s car. Because he did not have a driver’s license, he was given a driving ban and a report was made.
