“Archie” the cat disappeared in the Tyrolean winter, and now the runaway has turned up again in the summery Burgenland. The cat had to undergo an operation, but he is doing well. Now we are looking for a ride home.
It is a pity that animals cannot talk. Because then the busy cat “Archie” would have a lot to say. His descriptions would certainly fill a whole book, which has the best potential for a bestseller. But the basic facts alone are worth a story that shows the extraordinary facets of a cat’s life, without meowing or purring.
Disappeared in early March
What is certain is that “Archie” disappeared on March 2. After his usual tour of a settlement in Innsbruck, the then ten-month-old tomcat did not return to his cozy home as usual.
“We miss ‘Archie’ and hope he will be found soon. If anyone sees him, please report him,” the owner posted on an internet platform for missing and found animals in Tyrol. In order to be able to recognize the lost tomcat immediately, she added as a special feature that one of his brown eyes had darker pigment parts. It has been noted that “Archie” is rather shy.
500 kilometers from home
Not a day went by that the owners did not long for their four-legged friend back and were very worried about him. But the months went by and there was no sign of life from the tomcat. Hope was almost abandoned when the Tyrolean owner received the good news that her missing cat had unexpectedly turned up.
“Archie” is said to have been discovered in the south of Burgenland, particularly near Oberwart. In this way, the velvet leg completed a real odyssey to the east within twenty weeks. Between Innsbruck with the famous Golden Roof and the 8,000-inhabitant city with Pannonian charm on the Pinka lies almost 500 kilometers.
Looking for a ride
The injured cat had to undergo surgery. There is one last hurdle to overcome: now the owner is looking for a ride for the house tiger: “Maybe someone from Eastern Austria is on holiday in Tyrol and can take ‘Archie’ with them.” Their fingers crossed for a “happy ending”.
