Corona rules remain – written commitment possible with naturalization

Date:

In the final phase of its plenary meeting, which ended on Tuesday evening, the National Council expanded the Corona rules in immigration law. For example, in the field of citizenship law, it will continue to suffice to send the commitment in writing to the authorities instead of the oral commitment when granting citizenship.

In addition, holders of the “Long-term Residence – EU” residence permit cannot lose it in the future if they do not inform the authorities in good time that they are staying outside the EEA for special reasons for more than 12 consecutive months under consideration.

Scheme for minor refugees
Underage refugees can still be taken to regional directorates and their affiliates if first reception centers are closed due to the pandemic after applying for asylum.

It was also decided on the legal basis for the EU-wide exchange of data on displaced persons from Ukraine in the framework of the “Temporary Protection Platform”. This should ensure that persons granted temporary protection under the so-called Union Mass Influx Directive can exercise their rights in all Member States.
