A video is currently circulating on social media in which a special police unit arrests a man on a regional train. He is said to have previously injured an opponent during a fight and threatened to kill him. However, the official act does not go entirely smoothly…
Monday evening at Götzis train station: Three heavily armed police officers storm a regional train. Apparently they want to arrest a man with a migrant background who is sitting alone in a cubicle.
At first, everything goes relatively smoothly: the 32-year-old lies down on the ground. Then, however, things get more complicated; it is clear that the man cannot follow the instructions, which are sometimes given in the broadest dialect (“Uffn book!”). Instead of lying on his stomach, the visibly confused person turns onto his back, and instead of holding his hands behind his head, he stretches them forward.
A version of the video on X:
Ultimately, the arrest was successful: “the arrest was executed quickly and consistently and was completed without the use of service weapons,” the executive said.
Damaging comments online
However, very few people can agree with this positive assessment. The operational video is circulating online and has already become a real hit with over two million clicks. However, it is not suitable as a commercial for the Vorarlberg police; some comments are devastating. Users mainly make jokes about the dialect: “How about standard German?”: “As an Austrian, I only understand half of it”, are the mildest forum posts.
The Vorarlberg police do not want to comment on the hype surrounding the video and the criticism expressed. The deployment is discussed internally as usual.
