It is heartbreaking: the owner was too sick to go for a walk, his wife was afraid of “Jabo”. Animal rights activists complain: “There was no check on the requirements of the official veterinarian!”
“We heard about the dog two weeks ago and immediately went out to investigate the situation,” says Christina Adlassnig from the Garten Eden animal shelter in Klagenfurt. The six-year-old quadruped had to spend two years of his life in a cramped kennel. His owner had fallen ill and could no longer take the big dog for walks. The woman was also too weak and she too was afraid of the dog.
Kennel was too small
“The responsible official veterinarian was inspected for the last time in February and ordered the kennel to be expanded, which did not happen,” Adlassnig criticizes. There was also no possibility to let the dog run in the garden. “The woman was visibly relieved when we offered to take the animal,” says Adlassnig. The male “Jabo” was freed from the kennel without any problems and then followed the dog keeper into the car.
“Jabo” is already in its place
Once at the animal shelter, the four-legged friend was able to explore the spacious surroundings and enjoy his new freedom. “We also went on an excursion with him and were also at the Sattnitz, where he jumped into the water and swam,” Christina says happily together with the other animal caretakers at the animal shelter, where “Jabo” enjoys his new life.
