After the explosion in a residential building in the Bavarian city of Memmingen, the body of a 17-year-old was recovered from the rubble on Friday evening.
Emergency services found the missing teenager dead in a nearby house that was also badly damaged, a police spokesman said Saturday night. The building in Bavarian Swabia was reduced to rubble after an explosion.
A 68-year-old resident, who was initially also being sought, was not in the home when the explosion occurred.

Building badly damaged
The surrounding buildings were badly damaged by the explosion around 17:20. The situation center spoke of a “huge amount of damage” and a “huge amount of rubble” that had to be removed first. An excavator from the Technical Emergency Service (THW) was used for this.
The operation is underway
A large-scale deployment of police and rescue workers is underway in the city. Emergency services from nearby Baden-Württemberg are also on site. A helicopter circled the city and police set up a media gathering point in the early evening hours.
