A mountain biker was seriously injured on Saturday evening in the municipality of Turrach when he was hit by a motorist and seriously injured while heavily intoxicated and without a helmet.
On Saturday around 8:20 p.m., a 52-year-old German turned from a municipal road onto the Turrach national road (B 95) and apparently overlooked the mountain biker.
The 57-year-old was hit by the car, thrown from his E-Cross and eventually left seriously injured on the road. He was flown to the UKH Klagenfurt by rescue helicopter.
Traveling without a helmet
“A breathalyzer test on the mountain biker showed that he was heavily intoxicated. He was also not wearing a helmet. The breathalyzer test on the driver of the car was negative,” the police said. Further investigations are ongoing.
