Seriously injured, a farmer from Western Styria dragged himself home on Tuesday afternoon to get help: the 59-year-old and her husband had fallen over with the tractor while haying.
At around 3:30 PM, a 76-year-old was turning hay in a pasture in Preding (Deutschlandsberg district) with his tractor and a coupled tedder. When he was done, he folded the shaker’s arms and stepped back. Together with the tractor, the work equipment overturned on its side on the sloping meadow.
Serious injury
The farmer and his wife suffered serious injuries. Despite her injuries, the 59-year-old ran to the nearby residential building, whereupon relatives called 911.
After first aid from the emergency room doctor, the 76-year-old flew to the Graz Regional Hospital in the Christophorus 12 rescue helicopter. The Red Cross took his wife to the UKH in Graz. The Predinger Florianis, supported by two tractors, used the rescue vehicle’s cable winch to get the team back on track. The tractor and rake could then be towed away.
