As has only just become known, a poacher was up to mischief in Tyrol last autumn. The unknown man killed an ibex, chopped off its head, placed the animal’s body in a hollow and covered it with a layer of stones. A hunting dog found the decomposed body of the wild animal.
The unknown person probably struck between October 20 and November 7, 2023 in the Sulztal hunting area in Längenfeld (Imst district) and shot the twelve-year-old ibex dead. “After the head had been professionally severed, the carcass was placed in a depression at an altitude of 2,700 meters and covered with a layer of stone about 30 centimeters thick,” the police said.
Tens of thousands of euros in damage
The carcass of the ibex was tracked down by the tenant’s hunting dog on Sunday. The damage to the 63-year-old hunting tenant is considerable: the police estimated the amount at a low to mid five-figure euro amount.
