Scenes that sound like something from a bad movie played out in Wilfersdorf in the district of Mistelbach (Lower Austria). A 61-year-old was lying comfortably in his hammock, which was attached to a tree. Then the drama began: suddenly the tree broke and the trunk fell on the man.
Emergency helicopter, fire brigade, police: dramatic scenes took place in the municipality of Wilfersdorf in the Mistelbach district on Sunday morning. A 61-year-old was lying in a hammock in his garden when the tree suddenly broke through at around 10:35!
Stamm fell back to 61 years after the fall
It wasn’t enough that the man and the hammock fell to the ground – the tree trunk fell directly on him. “When we arrived at the scene of the accident, the Ebersdorf volunteer fire department had already lifted the tree and started resuscitating it,” reports the Wilfersdorf fire department, which took over the security of the scene, including traffic control.
The 61-year-old was flown to the University Hospital St. Pölten by emergency helicopter with serious injuries. The rescue team’s operation lasted more than two hours.
