A 24-year-old motorcyclist was killed Monday evening in a collision with a tractor in the Leutschach an der Weinstrasse (Leibnitz district) in Carinthia. The driver of the tractor may have overlooked the southern Styria.
At around 17:30 the motorcyclist was on the L614, the Grenzland-Weinstraße, coming from Leutschach towards the Langegg border crossing. On the long, straight stretch a 41-year-old Slovenian man with a tractor and trailer approached him.
Collision with tractor
Opposite the elementary school, the Slovenian turned into Pößnitzbergstrasse with the tractor and must have overlooked the 24-year-old. The motorcyclist collided with the tractor’s trailer. Unfortunately, the emergency services were unable to help the young Leibnitz man. He died at the scene of the accident.
The relatives are being cared for by a crisis intervention team. The highway was closed to all traffic until 7:45 p.m.
