Stabbings at the Votive Church in Vienna! Two homeless men got into a fight there shortly before midnight on Monday. One of the two men then allegedly attacked the other with a knife. The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The fight is said to have taken place at night in the Sigmund Freud Park next to the Votive Church. Witnesses saw the fight escalate and the two men started hitting each other. Suddenly one of the two is said to have pulled out a knife and seriously injured the other. The suspect is said to have fled.
The search for the perpetrator was unsuccessful
Attentive witnesses immediately alerted the emergency services and started first aid measures. The suspect – he is said to be around 50 to 70 years old, with white hair and a white beard – could not be caught. According to the Vienna police, the man was wearing a white shirt and beige pants at the time of the crime.
The victim is now out of danger
The injured 53-year-old was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. “The injured person is no longer in danger of life,” announced police spokeswoman Julia Schick. The investigation is ongoing.
