Officials from the Vienna Emergency Unit took a speeder out of service on Friday afternoon – even though the suspect was not behind the wheel of the car. During an inspection of the occupants and the vehicle, the police officers found something remarkable.
At around 5:45 p.m., officers in Tannengasse in the Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus district checked the vehicle and its occupants. During the check, the passenger was found to be a repeat offender – and in more ways than one.
Huge fine
Not only had he already incurred a slew of administrative fines – and especially here for speeding – he had repeatedly failed to pay the fines. The fine was handsome: the 30-year-old suspect had saved up 11,000 euros.
Unsurprisingly, the man was unable to pay on the spot. Police spokesman Christopher Verhnjak said he was arrested for a demonstration before serving his sentence.
