A 15-year-old boy caused a great deal of commotion in Bremen. Because he had taken possession of a public bus without permission and drove it through the city. But for a long time no one suspected anything.
Late Monday night, the teen posed as a trainee for a bus company to a bus driver, police said. Thanks to his impressive knowledge of detail, he accompanied the driver on his tour, was introduced as a new assistant when the driver changed, and stayed on the bus.
After the tour, the driver and his young companion left the bus, but the 15-year-old returned and continued the journey. At one stop, he invited unsuspecting passengers, thinking they were a regular bus driver, police said.
Autistic teen ‘excited about vehicles’
However, the real bus drivers noticed the theft and alerted the police. Eventually, the 15-year-old and his passengers were stopped. No one was injured – although the bus did sustain some paint damage and “unwanted growth on the bodywork.” The underage bus driver, an autistic man, was handed over to his father. According to the police, he wanted to “indulge his enthusiasm for vehicles and technology.”
