Hungary: Police boat collides with river ferry rope

Date:

The captain of a Hungarian police boat recently had a pair of guardian angels as a vessel in the municipality of Timar got caught on a ferry rope in the Tisza River.

CCTV footage (see video above) shows the police boat crashing into a ferry rope on the Tisza, the longest tributary of the Danube and the second largest river in our eastern neighbouring country, causing it to capsize in spectacular fashion.

According to Hungarian media, the accident happened last Saturday around 7:45 a.m., but the images have only just been published. According to the water police, the boat sank after capsizing and had to be rescued from the river with a tractor.

The police officer, who probably missed the rope over the Tisza, was able to swim to the shore after the accident.
