The emergency services do not want to give up the search for the 19-year-old Syrian who was dragged into the Inn by the current in the Tyrolean lowlands on Sunday afternoon. Another search took place on Tuesday, in which cadaver dogs were also used. Unfortunately, the search was again aborted without success. Now the water at the power plant in Kirchbichl has to be lowered.
There were tragic scenes that happened late Sunday afternoon in Kundl (Kufstein district). The young asylum seeker spent the day with two family members (20 and 30 years old) on the banks of the Inn near the Kundl sports field. At about 5:15 p.m., his brother-in-law and brother put their feet in the water, but the 19-year-old decided to go for a swim in the Inn, which was only around ten degrees cold.
Carried away by the current
“The inn currently carries a lot of water and has a high flow rate,” said the police. This was the undoing of the not so good swimmer, who was wearing jeans: he was carried away and went under after about 100 meters. His companions immediately notified emergency services. But all searches so far have been unsuccessful. The family of the missing person also searched for themselves. In vain.
Body detection dogs are also used
Also on Tuesday, the approximately eight kilometer stretch of the Inn between Kundl and the Kirchbichl power station was again searched. Body detection dogs were also used. “The search was again unsuccessful,” the police said Wednesday morning at the request of “Krone”. Now the water at the power plant has to be lowered.
