After a scorching summer day, heavy thunderstorms and some hail broke out in parts of Tyrol on Monday evening. Several fire brigades were present.
The storm front approached the Tyrolean central area from the southwest in the evening. In the early evening it moved over the Inntal, for example over Zirl, before the focus shifted to the Karwendel. The heavy rain was sometimes accompanied by hail and lightning.
Roads were moved
According to initial information, the road between Pfunds and Landeck had to be closed in both directions. The Pitztal federal road was also impassable due to a mudflow.
ÖBB train got stuck
On the Mittenwald section between Innsbruck and Reith near Seefeld, an ÖBB train was unable to continue due to the storm, according to the police and the Tyrol control centre. Passengers were not injured. The plan to transfer passengers to a train travelling in the opposite direction was not possible due to further small mudflows. The operation was therefore difficult.
