Round two of the ORF summer talks: After the wasp attack on NEOS boss Beate Meinl-Reisinger, the second “veteran”, Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler, sat down with Martin Thür on the Traunsee terrace on Monday – and was promptly drowned out by the rumble of thunder. The Greens have reconsidered the asylum issue…
Werner Kogler has been a rare guest in the media lately: While his ministers Zadic and Gewessler dueled with their coalition partner on the open stage, the Green party leader mainly appeared on social media to congratulate footballers and Olympians or express condolences after the cancellation of Taylor Swift concerts.
However, during the summer talks, he no longer had the chance to ignore the dominant topic: the Green Blockade of the Anti-Terrorism Act. The Vice Chancellor said right at the start that modern media such as TikTok should be used “smartly” – without “taking away people’s joy”.
Kogler cannot answer when he last saw a specialist, but he is convinced: “We have the best health care system.” And this despite the fact that the responsible ministry was taken over like a “torso” by the Blues.
He would feel sorry for the ‘Swifties’, whose joy at the concert was marred by the planned terrorist attacks. The Greens have also re-examined the migration issue, for example when it comes to learning the language. ‘Everyone who comes must obey the laws’, said Kogler. There is no question of neglecting racist, anti-Semitic approaches.
