The Israeli offensive has already killed more than 40,000 people in Gaza

In addition, there are believed to be around 10,000 bodies under the rubble. Tel Aviv continues its attacks and on Thursday ordered the evacuation of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has announced that he, along with other Palestinian leaders, will go to Gaza.

The Palestinian deaths have just ended Ten months of military offensive of Israel in the Gaza Strip crossed the border this Thursday 40,000in addition to some 10,000 bodies that Hamas authorities say are missing from the rubble.

The death toll in Gaza today reached 40,005 – including more than 16,400 minors – after adding 40 dead by Israeli attacks in the past 24 hours, according to data from the enclave’s Health Ministry.

The number of wounded in 314 days of war stands at 92,401 after registering 107 new wounded who arrived on the last day in the hospitals of the Strip, where more than 2 million people, almost the entire population, have been displaced by the fighting.

The Hamas government claims that 36 people – most of them children – have starved and that there are another 3,500 minors who are at risk of dying from malnutrition in light of restrictions on humanitarian access; and that 175 reception centres, such as schools, medical centres or mosques, have been attacked by Israeli forces.

In addition, 12,000 wounded people have to travel abroad for treatment; 10,000 cancer patients and another 3,000 with other pathologies are facing death and require treatment abroad; while there are more than 1.7 million Gazans with infectious diseases due to overcrowding in the centers for displaced persons with poor hygienic conditions.

Israel orders evacuation of Khan Younis

The Israeli army continues its ground offensive in Rafah and Khan Younis, in the south of the enclave, as well as in Gaza City and the central area; in addition to carrying out daily airstrikes across the territory, more than 30 in the past hours.

In this context, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have ordered residents of several neighborhoods in the city of Khan Younis to seek shelter before the attacks begin, in retaliation for the latest projectile launches by Hamas that were said to come from these areas.

Ceasefire negotiations in Doha

Meanwhile, Egypt has called on “all parties” to agree on a formula to urgently achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip during the round of talks that begin this Thursday in the capital Qatar and in which the country is participating as a mediator.

However, these talks have since seemed doomed to failure Hamas has already announced that it will not send a representative a negotiating committee for this dialogue, and urges that what has previously been agreed be applied “rather than continuing with new rounds”.

The Israeli side is expected to be represented starting tomorrow, Friday, by the head of Israel’s foreign intelligence service (Mosad), David Barnea; his counterpart in the internal service, Shin Bet, Ronen Bar; and Major General Nitzan Alon, who oversees the talks on behalf of the army.

The parties will try to move toward a ceasefire agreement in Doha that would allow for an exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners based on the proposal submitted by the United States in late May, in a process that will take “several days,” the US mediator for the Lebanon-Israel conflict, Amos Hochstein, was expected to speak in Beirut yesterday.

Abbas announces he will go to Gaza

On the other hand, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced on Thursday that he, along with other Palestinian leaders, will go to Gaza to put an end to the Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip.

“There is no solution for us anymore. That is why I and all the members of the Palestinian government have decided to go to Gaza, and that is what we will do,” Abbas said in a speech to the Turkish parliament.

“In the face of an enemy that knows no borders, we are united. Even if it costs us our lives… my life is no more valuable than that of the smallest child in Gaza,” the leader added, to applause from Turkish delegates.
