An Easyjet Airbus A320 narrowly avoided colliding with a car at Prishtina International Airport, the capital of Kosovo. The airport vehicle was on the runway as the plane took off for Geneva.
The incident happened on June 20, according to a statement published on Friday by the Swiss Security Investigation Board (SUST).
The Airbus with the Swiss registration HB-JXF was cleared to take off from runway 35 shortly after 17:00 local time. It was en route to Geneva. At the same time, an airport vehicle was standing on the other side of the runway.
The landing gear was still extended
The plane flew over the car at a sufficient height, the statement said, preventing a collision – even though the landing gear was still extended, according to the two pilots.
Investigation started
The STSB did not say how many people were on board the plane at the time of the incident. The Airbus in question has room for 186 passengers. The Kosovo Aviation Commission has also opened an investigation.
