The 62-year-old from Munich went on a mountain hike in the Rohntal/Steinkarspitze area with her daughter and her boyfriend on Friday. According to the police, the woman who was the last in the group to march suddenly fell for unknown reasons.
Seriously injured in fall
The climber then went over the edge of the trail and fell approximately 50 meters over steep, rocky terrain. “The 62-year-old suffered serious injuries,” investigators said.
By helicopter to the clinic
Her daughter and her boyfriend immediately started the rescue chain, then descended to the victim and provided first aid until the medical emergency helicopter arrived. After being rescued with a rope, the woman was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck.
The couple was escorted back to the valley by the Achenkirch mountain rescue service.
