A 15-year-old fled from the police in a stolen car at a speed of 140 km/h on Saturday night. The boy apparently wanted to take a joyride through Vienna with his friends. However, the officers immediately noticed him because of his unsafe driving style.
It was already dark – around 22:15 – when the police officers noticed the 15-year-old driver. Together with his friends (man 14, two women 15 and 16) the teenager was racing through the Danube city. When the driver noticed the police, he suddenly increased the vehicle speed to 140 km/h and tried to flee the city.
The man rammed two police cars
During the ride, a tire of the driver’s vehicle was damaged. The boy also rammed two police vehicles, damaging them and rendering them undriveable. After this maneuver, the escapee’s vehicle eventually came to a stop. All prisoners were arrested by the police.
Passenger arrests quashed
It was determined that the vehicle had been stolen just a few days earlier. Several stolen license plates were also found in the car. “Since only the driver can currently be prosecuted, the arrests of the passengers were lifted after a short time,” explains police spokeswoman Barbara Gass. The interrogations are still ongoing and the arrested man is in police custody.
