He has been found! The 44-year-old diver who went missing in the Traunsee on Saturday was discovered on Sunday. Fire brigade divers were able to track him down with an underwater drone. And at a depth from which he could be rescued by the specially trained frogmen.
Actually, there should have been a break in the search on Sunday, but the fire brigade divers from “Base 4” (diving groups Mondsee, Vöcklabruck, St. Peter am Hart, Seewalchen am Weyregg and a technical group) wanted to bring their missing husband and father back to the family as quickly as possible, so that his relatives can mourn him.
Real feeling
For this they were given a diving robot that is remotely controlled from the boat and is stationed at the Vöcklabruck fire brigade. And they drove to the diving site “Madonna”, where the accident had happened, and to the presumed places where the current could have carried the missing person from Steinhaus near Wels. They had the right instinct and the underwater drone, equipped with a camera and two spotlights, found the missing person at a depth of 62 meters.
Once his location was known, water rescue specialists dove along the cable to the robot and were able to bring the body to the surface.
Autopsy likely
The dead person will probably not be handed over to the widow, but an autopsy will take place. Because what exactly happened on Saturday afternoon when the diver disappeared, has yet to be clarified. As reported, the father of the family came to the aid of his wife (36) during a panic attack or during an emergency ascent from a depth of five meters, but did not show up himself afterwards.
