Traumatic minutes befell a 35-year-old man in Vienna: he was allegedly lured into an apartment by at least two men, where he was tied up, threatened and abused. Fortunately, the victim managed to free himself after some time and escape via the balcony.
The mobile phone and cash were allegedly taken from the man by the suspected perpetrators in an apartment in Vienna-Währing. The crime took place on Friday around 7:00 p.m. The suspects are said to be two Syrians aged 23 and 24.
Pistol, axe and knife seized
The men allegedly demanded a five-figure sum of money from the victim, but the handover never took place: the 35-year-old managed to escape via the balcony and subsequently received help. The alerted emergency services were able to capture and arrest the two men despite their escape attempts. “A blank pistol, an axe and a knife were seized in the apartment,” police spokeswoman Barbara Gass reports.
Men taken to prison
The victim had to be treated by the rescue operation and was then transferred to home care. The Vienna State Criminal Investigation Department has now taken over the investigation. “During the interrogation, the two detainees gave contradictory statements and did not confess,” Gass said. The men were taken to a penitentiary.
