This arsonist came on all fours! After a kitchen fire in Andorf, there is only one suspect: the indoor cat. She is said to have walked over the control panel of the stove and activated it. Of course, the presumption of innocence applies.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, the sirens blared at all four fire departments in Andorf (Andorf, Linden, Pimpfing, Schulleredt). The cause was a kitchen fire in an apartment building in Spitzgarten on Friedhofstrasse. However, the resident of one apartment was lucky: only a small amount of flammable material caught fire near the ceramic hob on the kitchen unit. This was still enough to damage the kitchen worktop and fill the apartment with smoke.
Suspected smoke inhalation
The first respiratory protection team that arrived on the scene was able to bring the remains of the flammable material outside in a bucket and extinguish it. The apartment was then cleared of smoke using a powerful fan. After the final checks with the thermal imaging camera, this operation was over for the Andorf fire brigade after just over an hour. The resident was briefly checked by Red Cross rescue workers due to suspected smoke inhalation.
Cat owners, enable parental controls!
The hob may have been turned on by a cat walking across the control panel. That is why the fire department also advises cat owners to activate the child locks on ovens or to generally not store flammable materials on hobs.
