A 50-year-old Styrian fell on Sunday near Kasereck in the Schladminger Tauern. Mountain rescuers went looking that night. But there was no help for the man.
“Twelve mountain rescuers left for Kasereck that night,” reports Roland Bock, operations manager at the Tamsweg location. A rescue helicopter team from Carinthia (RK1) and the team from Libelle Carinthia also joined the night search mission.
Weather conditions required a rescue operation
“Due to rain, fog and darkness we had to call off the search for the safety of our emergency services. At 04:30 we resumed the search and found the Styrian. He had a fatal fall in the extremely steep and rocky terrain,” said Bock.
The mountain rescuers from Tamsweg have recovered the dead man and prepared him for removal by the police helicopter team of Libelle Salzburg. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
