A 16-year-old moped driver was chased by police in the Tyrolean lowlands this weekend: After the teenager ignored stop signs and fled, the suspected hooligan was apprehended. But only briefly: because the boy fled for the second time – and injured a police officer in the process.
A moped without a license plate was noticed by two police patrols on Vomper Straße and Unterinntalstraße on Saturday around 16:15. The driver, who was initially unknown, was also driving at too high a speed. The officers then tried to arrest the – apparently young – speeding offender without a license plate.
Not an easy task, as it turned out. The driver ignored all the stop signals from the officers and tried to escape from the police. The boy initially succeeded in doing so.
Police officer injured in the foot
In Vomp (Schwaz district), the moped was eventually stopped briefly. However, the driver, a 16-year-old resident, did not want to be delayed for long. “He fled again on the moped, injuring one of the officers in the foot,” according to investigators.
It was only in Stans that the suspected hooligan was finally stopped and confronted by the police.
The officers also took a closer look at the young person’s vehicle and were probably surprised. “Numerous unauthorized technical modifications were discovered on the moped.”
Various complaints against young people
The 16-year-old is now facing charges of numerous administrative violations, as well as a report on suspicion of resisting state authority.
