United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on Monday that the government of Israel has approved the latest proposal revised proposal submitted by the United States for an agreement ceasefire and release of hostagesHe therefore urged the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to do the same and reach the agreement.
The head of US diplomacy has stressed after a three-hour meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he has confirmed that Israel accepts the proposal submitted by the United States in Doha last week “to try to overcome the differences between the parties.”
Blinken has therefore called on Hamas to accept the initiative. “Now it is up to Hamas to do the same”he stressed at a press conference from Tel Aviv.
During his ninth visit to Israel since October 7, Blinken stressed that he traveled to the area “to get across the finish line” in an effort to reach a ceasefire.
Shortly after hearing of Israel’s “yes” to the US ceasefire proposal, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) responded to this will not accept the agreement “without a total ceasefire”. Hamas emphasizes that the previous proposals they received included their two main demands: a comprehensive ceasefire and the total withdrawal of the army from the Gaza Strip.
