More of a guess – every second call to the MA 35 goes nowhere

Date:

If you need anything from the MA 35, you need perseverance. Getting through on the phone borders on gambling – and “immediately” is a flexible term for the employees.

The mountains of files are piling up at the immigration service (MA 35). The city says that the war in Ukraine is mainly responsible for this. We would have liked to ask MA 35 ourselves, but we couldn’t figure it out by phone. But it’s not just us.

As the current numbers prove, getting through on the phone is more like gambling. In October 2021 – so months before the war in Ukraine – only about every second call was accepted. It was similar in June and July 2022. In the meantime, at least six out of ten callers were happy to have someone to talk to.

It took months to get a call back
“Tip”: If you reach an employee, never be put off by calling back in a timely manner. According to the Ombudsman, such a person has been promised a first information session in November 2021. Only months later – in February 2022 – the time had come.

Despite millions of investments, waiting times have not become shorter. These are unbearable circumstances for the ÖVP. Party chairman Karl Mahrer and state spokesman Patrick Gasselich: “Eternal waiting times and telephone chaos are still part of everyday life. More organizational failure is not possible.”
