The problem of Swedish gang warfare is not only a concern for the authorities at home. Criminal organizations in Denmark have been recruiting young Swedes for their bloody acts of violence for some time via Telegram.
43,000 euros for contract killing
The young Swedes are being offered crazy amounts of money. According to Danish broadcaster DR, up to 325,000 Danish kroner (43,000 euros) can be offered for a murder. The Danish police have registered 25 cases involving Swedish citizens since April.
Teenager as murderer
In Sweden, the problem has long been the focus of attention of the authorities. Only in June was it revealed that three teenagers had agreed to kill several people. The youngsters, aged 15 and 16, were to receive 150,000 Swedish kronor (approximately 13,400 euros) for each person killed.
The teenagers have been arrested and are now on trial, but that doesn’t seem to deter others. According to estimates by Swedish police, more than 60,000 people in the country of about 11 million people have ties to criminal gangs. Of these, about 14,000 are active in criminal networks.
Gang conflicts repeatedly result in fatal shootings and explosive attacks. It is not uncommon for bystanders to be shot.
