The establishments are 71.6% full, measured by the number of places offered.
The overnight stays in the hotel establishments of the CAV that they have 1.8% raised this month of July, compared to the same month last year. However, the tourist entrance has descended to the same extent (1.8%), according to data from the survey of tourist companies published last Wednesday by the Basque Institute of Statistics Eustat.
As for the degree of occupationmeasured by places, the establishments were 71.6% full and 80.7% full measured by rooms. Compared to the same month in 2023, the occupancy rate has decreased by 1.2 percentage points measured by beds and by 1.3 percentage points measured by rooms.
In absolute figures, 387,004 visitors were registered, which amounts to a total of 818,058 overnight stays. The average stay was 2.11 days, more than in the same month of 2023, namely 2.04 days.
About, half of the admissions (55.4%) and overnight stays (55.1%) have been of foreign origin. The number of foreign tourists has even increased in the past month. 1.8% more people stayed with us than last year and the length of stay also increased by 4%.
On the contrary, the number of tourists of state origin has decreasedThe arrival of state tourists in hotel establishments has decreased by 6%.
By area, Gipuzkoa is the only area where both the number of tourists (up 0.2%) and the number of overnight stays (up 2.7%) have increased. In Bizkaia, the number of visitors was 2.6% lower than last year, while overnight stays increased by 0.3%. In Álava, 5.2% fewer visitors were registered, but 3.5% more overnight stays than in July of the previous year.
The rates are going up
The average daily rate (applied to a double room with bathroom on a room only basis) was €138.38, an increase of 7.7% compared to the previous year.
Gipuzkoa is the area with the highest average rate (175.49 euros), followed by Bizkaia (117.56 euros) and Álava is the cheapest (90.40 euros).
