Austria expects midsummer weather in the coming days. According to the prediction of the Central Institute of Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG), it will get hot first – and then even hotter. Here are the details:
Freitag: The sun often shines with released cumulus clouds and the chance of a shower remains low in most cases. High cumulus clouds are most likely to form around noon on the eastern edge of the Alps, where individual showers are possible. The wind blows moderate to strong from west to north in the mountains and in the east of the country, otherwise it remains fairly weak. Morning temperatures of eleven to 18 degrees are followed by daily highs of 23 to 29 degrees.
Saturday: The influence of high pressure creates widespread sunny weather and in some cases temperatures rise sharply, often well above 30 degrees in the west. In addition, it remains free of precipitation everywhere. The ground-level wind field is only weakly developed. Early temperatures are nine to 18 degrees, during the day the thermometer reads 26 to 34 degrees, with peak values in Vorarlberg and North Tyrol.
Sunday: Sunday is often sunny and hot like midsummer with up to 36 degrees in western Austria. Insulated warm thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon. During the day a moderate wind will blow from the southeast to the south, which will increase strongly on the eastern edge of the Alps.
All details about the Austrian weather can be found here.
edit: After a sunny start, low pressure in high layers will lead to increasing cumulus clouds from the northwest in the morning. The chance of thunderstorms in the morning is also increasing on the south side of the Alps. Severe thunderstorms are expected throughout the evening, with a focus on the eastern half of Austria. Winds will be light to moderate southeast to west. In the morning it is 14 to 21 degrees, during the day the maximum values are 30 to 35 degrees, with the highest values still in the southeast.
Tuesday: Initially there are still disturbances, especially south of the main Alpine ridge, in the form of showers and thunderstorms. These occur again and again throughout the day and even increase in intensity. Everywhere it is sunny and warm again in the summer. In the north and east, thunderstorms and showers do not develop until the afternoon, starting from the mountains. Moderate winds from south to east (early temperatures: eleven to 19 degrees, maximum daytime temperatures up to 30 degrees).
