There are endless wasps in Austria this year – there are always dangerous scenes and recently there was even a fatal incident. In Tyrol, such a nuisance was fatal to a young person. The moped rider was stung while riding. He and his companion were injured in the subsequent fall.
The serious accident took place on Tuesday afternoon in Fritzens in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land. The 15-year-old teenager was riding his moped on the Austraße – with a 14-year-old companion on the back.
“While driving, the man suddenly noticed that a wasp had flown under his helmet. When he was stabbed, the 15-year-old reflexively let go of the steering wheel,” police investigators said.
Crashed into the fence and fell
The couple then went off the road with their moped, crashed into a fence and fell into the verge of the road. “Witnesses immediately started the rescue chain,” the investigators continued.
With rescue to the hospital
The young duo suffered injuries. After initial treatment at the scene of the accident, they were taken by ambulance to the Hall Hospital in Tyrol.
