Horrible traffic accident Thursday morning in the Tyrolean Oberland: a 21-year-old driver ended up in the opposite lane near Pfunds (Landeck district) and collided head-on with an oncoming car. The woman was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by the fire brigade. A total of three people were injured in the accident.
The fatal accident happened shortly before 7:00 a.m. The 21-year-old German, accompanied by a compatriot of the same age, was driving on the B180 Reschenstrasse when, for unknown reasons, she suddenly drove into the opposite lane near Pfunds.
“She collided head-on with the car of the 55-year-old Austrian,” the police reported. The young woman was trapped in the vehicle. She had to be freed by the fire brigade using rescue shears. She suffered serious injuries due to the force of the impact.
To the hospital by emergency helicopter
“After initial treatment, the woman was flown to Zams Hospital by rescue helicopter,” the investigators continued. Her passenger and the other driver were able to get out of the crash vehicles on their own. They were also taken to hospital.
National road closed for two hours
There was considerable damage to both vehicles. During the recovery and clean-up work, the B180 was completely closed until 09:00.
