Between January and March, gross wages increased by 5.2% year-on-year, to an average of EUR 2,006.61 per employee per month, which is the first quarter of more than EUR 2,000.
The average wage cost per employee and month (including remuneration and social contributions) rose by 4.7% in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period of 2021 to 2,729.01 euros, the National Statistics Institute reported Thursday (IN ).
This increase in labor costs, which has been linked to five consecutive quarters of increases, is a result of the increased number of hours worked, as the reduction in time not worked for technical, economic, organizational and production reasons and/or force majeure hours not worked due to holidays and sick leave.
The rise in corporate labor costs accelerated by three-tenths in the first quarter compared to the last quarter of 2021, when it rose by 4.4%.
The wage cost consists of the wage cost and other costs. Between January and March, gross wages (all remuneration, both in cash and in kind) increased by 5.2% year-on-year, to an average of EUR 2,006.61 per employee per month, marking the first EUR 2,000 in the first quarter since the start of the series, in the year 2000.
